Who is this program for?
Eligibility Options
You must fulfill at least one of the following conditions to be eligible for work and residence permit.
University Diploma
Recognition of your higher education degree. This is often the fastest route if your degree is directly applicable to your business activities.
Investment
Investment of at least €50,000 into fixed assets (real estate, equipment, car, etc.) for your new Slovenian company within the first 6 months.
Turnover
Proof of active business with a turnover of at least €10,000 per month for 6 consecutive months. Best for existing businesses expanding.
EU Employee
Employment of an EU citizen or Slovenian national for a period of at least 6 months on a full-time basis.

Common Pitfalls
- •Missing the 30-day deadline for document submission can delay your application significantly.
- •Incorrect health insurance coverage may lead to application rejection.
- •Police clearance certificate: no older than 60 days for company registration, and 90 days for the residence permit.

Residence permit through employment in your own company
- •Once the d.o.o. is registered, you employ yourself as its director and obtain the single residence and work permit (enotno dovoljenje).
- •The director's salary cannot be below the statutory minimum gross. Current reference: 1,522 € gross, about 1,024 € net, about 1,782 € total employer cost per month.
- •Contributions and tax are paid every month; this proves real employment and matters when the permit is renewed.
